PADI IDC Staff Instructor
As a seasoned PADI Instructor, you have wisdom and experience to share with up-and-coming PADI leaders. As an Instructor Development Course (IDC) Staff Instructor, you present topics in the IDC and help shape PADI Divemasters and Assistant Instructors into PADI Open Water Instructors.
The program builds upon your abilities as a dive educator while concentrating on developing evaluation and counseling skills. Many dive center or resort management positions require this level of instructor experience and training, making this an important step if you are considering a career in dive center management or if you plan to become a PADI Master Instructor or PADI Course Director.
At Sipadan Scuba many of our instructor candidates have achieved this step and now hold senior positions at major dive centres in Asia, Australia and the Caribbean. One of our IDC staff instructors candidates, Ed Cardwell, even went on to apply his newly developed skills and talents to become the highest certifying instructor in all of PADI Asia Pacific in 2008, winning him that year's GoPro Challenge award and a shiny new Doxa dive watch.
The staff instructor course at Sipadan Scuba starts with 2 days of dive theory and practical sessions to learning the evaluation process and perfect teaching skills. Next the candidate will audit an entire IDC, evaluating students alongside course director Jerry Reichart. Once certified as a staff instructor you can teach the PADI Assistant Instructor courses independently and assist a PADI Course Directors in conducting the PADI Instructor Development Course and instructor-level continuing education.
